Experience Media Consulting Group was founded by George Merlis, whose media career spans four decades. It is headquartered in Los Angeles, California and offers services globally.
Beginning as a newspaper reporter and city editor, Merlis moved on to television and served as an ABC News investigative producer and then as executive producer of
Good Morning America, the CBS Morning News
and Entertainment Tonight.
He has written two books on communicating through the media: "How to Make the Most of Every Media Appearance," and "How to Master the Media."
In his career, Merlis has overseen more than 10,000 broadcast and print interviews. An active nonfiction television producer, Merlis won a national Emmy Award in 2000. He has been nominated for the prestigious award nine times.
Merlis' first Emmy nomination led him into speaker and media training:
"Our show, Good Morning America, lost. Instead of feeling disappointed, I was relieved because I would not have to make an acceptance speech or do media interviews. Then I thought, 'Wait a minute; I'm in the media myself. Why am I nervous about interviews and public speaking? Why should anyone be nervous?' That was when I began developing the Experience Technique."
That technique has guided more than 20 years of successful media and presentation training.
Merlis conducts every Experience Media Consulting workshop and consultation. For larger group workshops, where a second trainer is needed, a colleague with similar professional credentials joins Merlis.
